Submit your Paper
Submission Overview
The MMIRA Global 2026 Conference is offering Poster submission, an Abstract-Only along with two paper submission options. Authors can choose to submit either an Abstract-Only* (500 words), Condensed Paper (2000 – 2,500 words) for a presentation at the conference or a Research-In-Progress Paper (1,500 words).
*For the Abstract Only option authors can opt for a preferred presentation mode: either full paper presentation (20 mins) or shorter (10 mins) interactive roundtable presentation and discussion similar to Research-In-Progress style presentations.
All Submissions will be double blind reviewed.
The Abstracts of all accepted submissions will be published in the Conference Proceedings. There is no opt-out for the publication of Abstracts.

ABSTRACT ONLY
We invite scholars to share mixed methods research at any stage of development. Submissions may present conceptual or theoretical ideas, proposed studies, or research in progress, and can address methodological, empirical, policy, or practice-based questions. Accepted abstracts may be presented as interactive or roundtable sessions, or as full paper presentations.

POSTER
Posters provide a visual and concise way to share research, projects, or innovative practices and encourage informal discussion.

RESEARCH-IN-PROGRESS PAPER
Research-In-Progress Papers will be held in a roundtable format, with a shorter presentation to allow for more time for discussion and feedback. These papers will be presented in interactive sessions, which are discussion-based sessions designed to encourage deeper dialogue and collaboration. We envisage these papers to be empirical in nature.

CONDENSED PAPERS
Types of Condensed Papers:Conceptual (related to MMR), empirical (utilising an MMR design), literature reviews (related to MMR), MMR prevalence studies, MMR technical papers (sampling, analysis, joint displays, etc.)

Submission Guidelines
Submissions (condensed papers, research-in-progress papers, abstracts-only, and posters) will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout this period.
Three-Tier Review Process
All submissions undergo rigorous peer review (double blind) using consistent evaluation criteria. Following review, submissions will receive one of three outcomes:
Accept: Submissions meeting the conference’s scholarly standards will receive final acceptance on a rolling basis throughout the submission period.
Revise and Resubmit: Submissions demonstrating scholarly merit but requiring improvements will be invited to revise and resubmit once (and once only). Authors will receive detailed feedback indicating required changes. This revision opportunity ensures that promising work receives a fair opportunity for refinement and reconsideration.
Reject: Submissions with fundamental methodological, conceptual, or scope issues that are unlikely to be addressable through a single revision.
All final decisions will be communicated in April (date to be confirmed)
Advantages of Early Submission
Early submission provides distinct benefits:
- Authors receive feedback sooner, allowing more time to address reviewer comments if a revision is requested
- Submissions meeting acceptance standards may receive final acceptance well in ad-vance of the 1 March decision date, enabling extended time for travel planning, funding applications, and conference preparation
- Earlier engagement with the review process provides flexibility for programme devel-opment
Commitment to Quality and Fairness
The use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
MMIRA2026 does not prohibit, in principle, the use of generative AI to support research activities. Authors using AI in any step of their research process are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of AI-generated materials. AI tools cannot be listed as an author of a paper. The use of AI to generate ideas and /or research questions, to analyse data, to support writing or for any other purposes in a submission to #MMIRA2026 should be transparently disclosed at the end of the manuscript. AI tools used should be listed in the bibliography indicating: Author of the AI programme, year of the programme version used (in brackets), Name of AI (in italics), Version, if applicable (in brackets), Publisher, if different from the author, URL, if applicable. Please refer to the example below:
Open AI, (2024). ChatGPT 4o (version September 2024), https://chat.openai.com
If AI tools have been used, the corresponding author will then specify in which of the different steps of the research process they were used:
- Conceptualisation and literature review
- Design of research and (field) research protocol
- Data collection, field research activities
- Resources and analysis tools
- Data curation, data analysis, formal analysis
- Use of software for data analysis
- Discussion of research results
- Analysis of potential for replication/ reproducibility
- Preparation of draft article and its review
- Generation of diagrams/tables/visualisations and will disclose precisely the reasons for this use.
Should you have any hesitation on which Theme to select for your Paper, you may wish to contact the Chair of the Scientific Committee by email (mmiraconference2026@torrens.edu.au) to find the best fit for your submission.

Review Criteria
All Conference submissions will be refereed using a double-blind peer review process. The review criteria include:
- significance/importance of the topic
- conceptual foundation/relevant literature
- suitability of research questions
- aims and objectives
- methodology
- quality of analysis/coherence of argument
- relevance of findings for theory/policy/practice
- clarity/readability and overall evaluation (including contribution).
Best Poster and Condensed Paper Awards
The Scientific Committee will convene a Poster Judging Panel to evaluate the Posters for the Best Poster Award.
The Scientific Committee will also decide on the Best Paper Award for the Condensed Paper submissions and associated presentations.
These Awards will be presented during the Award Presentation Session in the Conference Program.
